A neighbour who has no interest in classic cars called me to see if I would be interested in looking at a 1935 Vauxhall Ten that needs to be cleared from the dry barn it has been sitting in for 15-20 years.

Web info is very limited - does anyone know anything about them?

They were among the first monocoque (chassis less) cars so are there any areas that are particularly prone to rusting that I should be aware of?

It may be a load of rubbish, but I wouldn't like to either miss the opportunity or get it and find a load of hidden problems.

I guess it'll be a little like this then?

I think this one might be a couple of years later.

I've some early Vauxhall spares, I think from a 14hp model, including the dubonnet front suspension, although whether the '35 model had this type I'm not sure.

By a strange co-incidence I asked my neighbour about it, just 20 minutes before you posted.

He promised to arrange a viewing this weekend.

We will see.

Some of the info you've been given has to be wrong. Vauxhall didn't make a 10 in 1935!

The H-type 10/4 came out in 1937 and as said, was of monocoque construction.
Prior to that the smallest model available in 1935 was the D-type Light Six available as either a 12hp (DY) or 14hp (DX).
Also available was the B-type Big Six as either 20hp or 27hp.

Either your car's not a Ten, or it's newer than they think. I suspect the latter.

If you get a decent pic and/or some more info, I'll be able to tell you what it is you've found.

Happy discovering!
