safari minor 1940's or 1950's

hi there, pretty new to this forum but are wondering if any one has any info on my classic caravan i know it is a safari minor but are unsure on the age, all pictures of this van that i have found are from the mid fifties yet my van looks some what pre historic in comparison it has no towing lights and has a lantern roof with out the lantern windows i will try to get some pictures up on screen hope some one out thee can help......

I used to have one but really couldn't get on with the door being directly over the drawbar.
From memory they were 1948 - 1953, but this is the link you want:

If it's a Safari, you can bet BrianM will be along in a minute! He'll probably be able to tell you the name of the man who built it!

Dammit 15 minutes too late!!

I don't know who you could mean but the Minor is the one Safari I have never seen in the flesh.

In my Safari Albums attached to the ClassicSafaris group you refer to, I have the following photos, and several years ago I saw a dark green one for sale on the net, but couldn't download the photos.

You are right about the dates, it was Safari Caravans first production van, and was launched in 1948.







OVM - you should join our group and have the distinction of owning the oldest Safari.

By the way, it shared the same towing characteristics as a garden shed.
And if it's on 16" wheels, go for taxi radial remoulds - or even s/h Michelin taxi tyres.
