Hello again. Having found that the Pop was mechanically very sound, it was time to address the fuel pump issue. There are many ways to get round the heat transfer problem including fitting an electric S U further back in the fuel line as a few people have kindly suggested. The previous owner has fitted a heat shield between the pump and block- nice idea, but flawed as it broke down getting it back to Coventry from Wiltshire...3 times! Another idea tried by him was to direct air on to the carb via a tube fixed to the radiator grille and finishing at the carb
I think a little desperation had crept in. What Ive done is to simply fit two fibre gaskets coated with silicone between pump and block, and so far....fingers crossed! Touching briefly on storage, I am lucky to have a good friend who has a double garage. That`s where it is while the bad weather is here, and I thought lets go belt and braces! So I bought an all over car cover
WRONG!! It was a week before the weather improved, and on removing said cover I was dumbfounded as Bertie was literally soaking wet with condensation! I have since put a cotton sheet between the cover and body, and all appears to be well. A very minor point that was bugging me was all the time I was driving it, I couldnt help but see that GHIA logo on the dashboard!
God knows what glue he`d used, but it took two hours to painstakingly remove it without scratching the dash! Now all the obvious stuff is done, I have to turn my attention to the rather more expensive things
Yep. Back bumper, rear lights and rear number plate bulb holder....bank account depletion time methinks! If anyone can possibly help....? Again, thanks for reading this, and from one classic car nut to many others...its all good fun! |

| I bought a cheap cover for my Victor when it was outside, but on inspection it recommended using it for a maximum three days at a time, probably why it deteriorated so quick because I left it on permanent. Just got an indoor cover for the Bentley from Cover Systems so we'll see how that works. |
