Hi all. I'm Dave, I was a "classic car virgin" until last week when, in a complete moment of madness, I purchased a Triumph Stag! It's my intention to restore the old boy (Stags could NEVER be female!!!!!) to something like original condition without going for a full on concourse job. I want to drive it, enjoy it and then ?????? Anyway, I'll be on here a lot more soon picking brains and seeking advice.
Cheers.......Dave |

Hi everyone.
Just joined this forum - looks very interesting and friendly.
I own "The Shed" - a 1965 Series 2a ex-military Land Rover...
Are there many other Land Rover owners on here I wonder? |

Hello to everyone - i have just joined the "clan" - hopefully i can add positive input as well as gaining it!
I am at present doing a "ground up " restoration of a ford Consul mk2 - i have in the past done the same to a series 2a swb landrover - as with most people in here, its more a labour of love than a way of monetary gain!
I am by no means an "expert" - this, as with other projects ive done - is purely a hobby - ive (hopefully) learnt from mistakes ive made,(i still talking about cars/restoration here!) - and would glady offer any advice based on my experiences!
Look forward to chatting to you all

Hello, Hope you don't mind a lady here! I purchased a Mercedes 509 campervan in February and have fallen in love with it so much i will keep it for as long as it goes for me. The MOT is due end of the month for which i havent done much preparation for and hoping that if i put it in they will tell me what needs to be done etc. If you own one or know what to look for feel free to advise me.

Hi,
I have just the joined the forum and frankly fear for my sanity and good health as I envisage spending the entire winter in front of the screen trawling through the hugely interesting and illuminating submissions in the forum.
I am a complete petrolhead (I even wrote a book with that title), I live in a small cardboard box by the town dump but I do own an eclectic set of seventeen (current count) old motors and am blissfully happy.
Among my current on-going projects are a MK V Jaguar drop head coupe with some interesting or defacing modifications depending on your point of view. I am also refurbishing a Reliant Girder Fork and have recently more or less completed (they are never really finished) an XK 140 OTS, a ’34 Rover Speed Fourteen tourer (most of the work was already done) and a 1949, Morris Minor MM Low Light tourer with an Alta engine conversion. I have also finished the mild refurbishment of a ’38 SS 100. And oh yes, I have a gearbox to fit in my Bradford lorry ready for the L to B Commercial run next May.
Having done the last six L to B Veteran runs, we are giving it a rest this year. We have a 1904 American Autocar Type X.
I am based in West Sussex and look forward to learning a great deal from other’s wisdom.

Welcome to the forum Roger - look forward to hearing about your fleet (the Alta-headed MM sounds interesting!)

Paul, your name sounds familiar. Forgive me if we have met and I just can’t place the name at present.
I’ve owned the Braddie for a few yeas and we have done a few commercial L to Bs together. This year, because some other work was needed, I finally fitted a replacement, exchange box I obtained from a Jowett/Bradford specialist. There wasn’t much wrong with the old box except it was a bit graunchy on the changes up and down between second and top. The supplier needed an exchange unit so, rather than take out the one I had, I spent thirty quid and bought what was reputed to be a scrapper from a northern club member.
The road test on the new box went as sweetly as you would like. We did a couple of miles with the joy of a nice bit of synchromesh. We started this years L to B by trailering the Bradford to Crystal Palace. The first five miles out of the starting blocks were great that was, until the new g/box broke. So home with tail (cogs) between legs.
As luck would have it, I hadn’t yet sent the scrap box to the specialist and after cleaning it up and on close inspection, discovered that it seems in excellent order.
The Braddie and the box have sat forlornly in the workshop till now and as coincidence will have it, I plan to attempt the change tomorrow. Hope to get it done in a day except of course, something is bound to bu**er things up. We shall see what we will. Any words of advice and/or wisdom gratefully accepted.
Rick, the Morris is a bit of nostalgia as my tutor at the old school had a 1949 lowlight tourer in which he used to ferry us around. I can’t tell you much about my car as she is a fairly new acquisition but after a few month’s refurbishment she needs replacement front wheel cylinders to get through the MOT test. I managed to source some today so no excuses for prevarication. An article I have on the Alta conversion claims 55bhp from a 27 bhp start. I wouldn’t recommend that Louis Hamilton uses her for Sunday’s race but she does just about keep up with traffic up to about 65 miles an hour.
More anon.

My name is Gary (I'm the one leaning against the car) although new to the forum, Ive been viewing the website for years. Congratulations it fantastic. I especially like looking at the period street scenes, in particular the early 1960's ones which take me back to my childhood.
I own a modified (as far from concours as it's possible to get) Frogeye. And I'm the editor of the Midget & Sprite Club's monthly magazine "Mascot". In addition, I also run the photographic database of UK registered Mk1 Sprites
www.frogeye.fotopic.net
If any of you have old or new images of Mk1 Sprites which aren't already on the database, I would be delighted to receive them.
Regards
