The P5OC is trying to have a batch of SR radials (185/15's) commissioned for their members - it did source a 100 Hankooks at a very special price last year which have all gone.

The more clubs that can join in this the better the price. M

Members of this Forum ought to contact the committee of their respective owners club to express their interest if they have a need for this size tyre

Does anyone know what other cars use them apart from P4's VW Beetles and DKW/Auto Unions of the 50s early 60's?

Other sources charge at least £100 now for the named brands good if you are doing high mileage but not good if not as the useby date passes before tread wears out Wink

Thanks Art - I have looke dthat up Jag Mk2's had 6.40 x 15 X plies a standard. P5's used 6.70 x 15 and P4's 6.00 or 6.40 x 15 so 185/15 radials size would fit.

XJ6's appraently used 205/70 x 15's which just fit P5's but as quite bit wider put more strain on the steering. These were once common and cheap too but not now!

Someone said some Alvis's had that size.

What is is certain is that X plies are useless on modern roads for high(er!) performance cars although some still fit them for originality over safety
