Our 1933 Winchester after we'd re-painted it . . .

And after we'd re-painted it again, having decided we didn't like the first colour!

G'day Barry,

I'd say you did the right thing, the second colour scheme
certainly looks more vintage.
Are those "Artillery wheels"... are they 16" and do you
know if they came in three stud pattern ?

Cobber.

hi cobber, the wheels pictured are the Dunlop disc type, normally 19inch
by 475/500,(but can be found in 20" and 18inch) this type of wheel was used by all of the big caravan makes,
from the late twentys up until the late thirtys when they started to change over to the " easy clean type of wheel "
"Artillery wheels " where fitted on caravan,s e.g. angela,s but fell out of use in the late twentys, i have never seen a 16inch type, (19s 20s nornmally ) but i have seen a three stud fitting (and a four and five Smile )
you can indentifiy this type of wheel, by the what looks like the large cast spokes

G'day Paul,

Thanks for that info.... I should have known Artillery
wheels had spokes Confused
I now know the wheels on my Ol' 36 caravan are not
original...it has 1939 Hillman easy clean wheels on
it... possibly replacing the original wheels that were
not quite up to the job.... something like Austin seven
wire wheels maybe ?
I'd like to fit wheels to it that look more in keeping
with the early '30s but still strong enough to do the
job.... having only three studs presents a problem Crying or Very sad

Gresham Flyer.... Have you followed the advice
in the "HOW TO POST PHOTOGRAPHS" link
at the top of the page ? It explains the procedure as well as
I've seen it done anywhere.

Cobber
