Can anyone tell me the location of the chassis number on a 1935 Rover 14 please?

Actually my detailed knowlege about P2's starts at the 1937 model year cars. Rover's model years start in the September of the preceding year not the calendar year so a 1935 model could be built between September 1934 to August 1935.

The chassis number is also the the Rover "Car No" although this is really the 4 digit serial number as below

I recall that it is also stamped on the o/s top of the front chassis dumb-iron/chassis leg but never found mine there

In that period the first number is the model year eg 5 = 1935 and the second number the model eg 14 saloon = 2 Speed 14 = 3 The last 4 = actual series number of the car.

On the pre-war 1937 models the number is found on the n/s front bulkhead near the top engine side - a screwed on plate under the Body number
