Looks beautiful. Have always liked the lines of that model. Now you can live the life of Riley! (Or is that just an expression limited to Oz?) _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |

You are quite correct Peter.
She was imported into the country and Edinburgh registered in 1960 after coming from Malaya on the RFA Reliant. She was purchased new in Perak Ipoh in 1951 of the Taiping Foundry by a Mr Kok siew Leong then sold to Mr. Hugh Philip Chapman with an address of RASC Barrack Office G.P.O Taiping in 1958 who then brought the car back with him and owned it until at least 1965 (there the trail goes cold).....
I'm trying to find out more about Mr Chapman, who he was and why he was in Malaya for so long after the trouble had ended (1953 I think)...
I've heard that the Riley RM Club have some further 'interesting' history on this car but I will have to wait to find out what that is as I've just applied for membership.

Thanks Peter.... I'm going to wait to see what news the Riley Club have...
I have his address as 220 Albert Avenue Hull in Nov 1960, the car leaving Singapore in July 1960 bound for Rosyth then various dates and Edinburgh addresses for him in the RF60 between '61 and '65..... |
