The small clear tube coming from the top of the float chamber is only an overflow, drop it down by the block making sure it wont drip on anything hot.

is the big hose for the scuttle drain ?

that is a heated rear screen switch, but as people often wire in any old switch to the AED, it could be to that

ive seen jags with a switch to turn the AED on/off rather than relying on the sender

when i first used to turn the ignition on fuel would pump from these and out the pipe, not anymore though.

means you had a stuck float valve which has cured itself

I don't remember seeing anything like that on mine, and it (plus the bracket) doesn't look like 1973 to me. Saying that mine didn't have a/c.

If its ok with you I'll move this developing thread into the Your Cars section, along with all the other restorations and ownership tales! Smile

Did you get any manuals with it? As its going to need some fettling, it'd be well worth picking one or two up - even a Haynes manual would be a good starting point, you could always shell out for a factory manual further down the line.

Gareth, I do hope you will join the ranks of the DLOC (Daimler Lanchester Owners club) as we need some new young blood and you may find it very rewarding. The club has a fantastic web blog where the knowledge is immense on all matters technical and where to get bits, etc. Plus theres a very active social element. Look up the DLOC website: http://www.dloc.org.uk/

Regrettably these cars do not get the recognition they deserve but plentiful supply of parts available. You probably would be best getting a stainless system for the exhaust and then never have to worry about it again as the steel versions never lived very long.
Hope you enjoy your new project. I have a 1969 V8 250.
Pete

exhaust is nearly complete and engines all serviced ready to be test driven

as for the Daimler Lancaster forum........that was the first one i joined few weeks back, its more of the older Daimelr/Jags forum as i didnt get much response/help from anyone when i posted advice

ignition is on the way, picked one up on ebay
and horn is drying out on top of the stove

cany get to sleep at night now though as everytime i close my eyes i cant help but plan and imagine my nest move on the engine etc, its driving me mad

Love it Cool

I've had a few old Jags over the years - had a J reg seies 1 Daimler like yours!

Shame you don't live near Lincoln - I've still got a stack of spares for those cars that I need to sell on some time.

Stainless steel exhaust anyone? It's a series 2 one, but can be made to fit a series one & gets rid of those silly flexi-pipe bits that cause no end of problems....

Series 1 Jag 2.8 engine anyone? - gonna weigh this in soon.....when I can work up the energy to man-handle it into the back of the estate car Laughing

Good Series 1 front bumper - covered in wax polish to stop it rusting.......

Got a good series 1 Daimler front grill in the loft somewhere, too.

I took these photos this summer when I unearthed them as I intended to perhaps sell them through ebay, but in the end I couldn't be bothered & buried them all again for the time being.
