This little Eccles was rescued from a showmans caravan site, and was in a very poor state
it took six of us over two hours to get it out, the van had to be pulled over a very muddy field and then loaded onto a trailer, the two flat tyers on the van adding to the fun.
The restoration included the removal of two bay windows , a complete reskin, new window frames, door, a new bed base, and all the little bits like cooker, lights, wiring , tyers, etc
a none standard metal roof had been fitted, but i left this on, i liked the big dome rivets that held it on
This van was restored again some years later and is now in the club treasurer collection.. OVM |

That is a nice little bit of early caravan history there O V M.
Are there places over there you able to get retro lino fairly easily (or is that a trade secret) ?

I mentioned an classic caravan 2010 calendar spotted on Ebay recently, looking at the images that you post up OVM you could print out a much more interesting calender. (maybe 2011) |

Now there is a good idea... I'd love to see a calendar featuring
some of the really vintage caravans you folk have over there.
Our vintage caravan forum down under have been producing a
calendar for the last three years featuring members caravans,
mostly from the 50s and 60s with the occasional 'van from the
30s and 40s..... we consider ourselves very lucky..... but a
calendar showing 'vans from the 20s and 30s would be something
else .... do it O V M
This is the cover of our 2010 calendar.... A4 size closed, double that open.

Hello Cobber,
What about something for the Vintage and Classic caravan Ladies out there.
You must have seen the Calender Girls or the calenders with Firemen or Lumberjacks produced over the last few years.!!
Some of the hunky chaps could pose in the buff whilst carrying out their daily caravaning chores.
Obviously caravaning accessories or collectables of various sizes (depending on the chap posing) would need to be strategically placed to hide their embarrassment. |

How's that O V M .....already we have a volunteer photographer, rangerover125.....what we need now is a volunteer Printer
And your suggestion has merit too G.F....... we mustn't take ourselves too seriously, the public in general don't
I do have that video “Classic Caravans on Show”.. and I reckon some of the pommy's in that video would look good buffing up their Eccles in the buff..... (none of those people would be on this forum.... would they

given that the majority of vintage van owners seem to be over the age of sixty the idea of pictures of them naked with there vans ,will give us a good laugh on these dark winter nights
if you what to see pics of vintage caravans JOIN THE CLUB
There are members of the club with large libraries of photos of vans that will never go on the net just in the newsletters
one of the reasons that i put pics on this forum is to try and illustrate what caravans of a certain period should look like, and i always welcome your comments OVM [/b] |

Cobber, the transglobal calender was the one that I originally spotted, I've had a look at the other one now. Looks as if the calendar idea is covered, good O. |
