HI THERE AS I AM A CIRCUS/FAIRGROUND ENTHUSIAST AND A CARPENTER BY TRADE OVER THE LAST 20 YEARS I HAVE LIVED IN TRAILERS MY BIGGEST PROJECT WAS CONVERTING A 40FT ARTIC OLD FRIDGE TRAILER FOR LIVING THIS TYPE OF TRAILER IS VERY INSULATED TO KEEP THE COLD IN BUT IT IS ALSO IDEAL FOR KEEPING HEAT IN WE TOOK THE BACK DOORS OFF AND SEALD IT UP AND CUT A DOOR OPENING IN THE SIDE AND FITTED A DOUBLE GLAZING DOOR THEN WE CUT AND FITTED 4 METER SQUARE DOUBLE GLAZING WINDOWS THE INSIDE WALLS AND CEILING WAS LINED OUT WITH WALLBOARDS THERE ARE 4 ROOMS INSIDE BEDROOM , LOUNGE , FITTED KITCHEN AND A BATHROOM WITH A FULL SIZE BATH MY WIFE AND I HAVE LIVED IT NOW FOR OVER 10 YEARS ITS VERY COSY AND ITS LIKE AN OVEN IN THE WINTER WE ARE NOW IN OUR 60S AND LOVE LIVING IN TRAILERS MY WIFE SAYS IT DOES NOT TAKE LONG TO CLEAN IT AND ITS TOO COLD IN A HOUSE .

I like reading the articles in caravan magazines from the 40's and 50's about people who decided to live in a caravan instead of a house. So many people talked about the fact that their caravans were warmer than the houses they had moved out of and took very little time to keep clean.

I remember when I was at college in Lancaster having to move out of halls of residence in the second year and my friend and I choosing between a house in Lancaster, a holiday flat in Morecambe and two 1960's Pemberton caravans sited in a small quarry next to a farm high in the hills behind Lancaster. We chose the flat on Morecambe sea front, but I often wished that we had opted for the caravans.

OVER THE XMAS PERIOD MY WIFE AND I WHERE INVITED TO OUR FRIENDS FOR XMAS DINNER AT CANTERBURY THERE HOUSE WAS SO COLD WE JUST COULD NOT WAIT TO GET BACK TO THE TRAILER WHEN WE CUT THE WINDOWS OUT THE INSULATION WAS 3 INS THICK IN THE WALLS AND FLOOR AND CEILING ARE 6 INS THICK THE HEATING WE HAVE IS A CALOR PUSH AROUND AND ON LOW WE SWITCH OF BEFORE WE GO TO BED AND THE TRAILER STAYS WARM ALL NIGHT WHILE OUTSIDE IS -3 .

Hi nice web site.Have you always lived in a trailer.Do you travel around or have your own bit of land were you stay.Love the models you have done a great job.Always fancied a small monel of my ford fire truck but they never made a model Sad happy new year to you, Pete

HI PETE NO I HAVE NOT ALWAYS LIVED IN A TRAILER I SOLD MY HOME IN WALES TO START A FULL SIZE CIRCUS BUT IT DID NOT WORK OUT I FOUND A YARD IN KENT WHERE I HAVE BEEN NOW FOR OVER 20 YEARS I AM IN FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT BUT I WOULD NEVER GO BACK INTO A HOUSE WE ARE LEGALY PARKED AND HAVE NOT MOVED FOR 20 YEARS
