When we viewed the car it sat all forlorn, lights missing, flat tyres, junk all around it,inside reasembled a shed, not in the best of settings.
The main thing was the bodywork was solid, engine bay and bulkhead all original paint, the rear boot as well.
Although the engine did not run,we took a chance on that. Exclamation Exclamation
But we did not let that put us off,we loved this little cutie, now named "PURDY."
Loaded on the trailer,on the way to its new home Exclamation
It had been off the road for nearly three years. Sad
Much work had been carried out in 1987,by a previous owner. Very Happy

Arrived home safely, now to get it running. Very Happy
I cleaned out the fuel system, fresh petrol in the tank, new battery, and she started and ran perfectly. Very Happy
Clutch stuck but we will sort that out.

Once running ok,I jacked up one back wheel, put it in 2nd gear, started the engine, ran it up then kept applying the brakes until the clutch freed off.
A good clean inside and out, made all the diference to the apearance.

The bodywork requires no welding, this was all done in 1987. Very Happy
Some rust stains on sill caused by water laying on sill / door gap, only surface rust no problem. Very Happy
This will polish out. Very Happy
The previous owner took all the lights off, WHY?, these have now been put back on.
The dashboard was hanging off, some guages removed.
Luckily everything was in boxes complete with new items and spares.
Everything has been put back now,and works fine. Very Happy
Next job is to get the brakes working correctly, then a road test, before the MOT. Exclamation Exclamation

Nice little motor, have you got the plates or have they been sold?, maybe the reason it was off road.

The reason it was off the road. Question

The owners moved house, illness, lost their storage,no garage to do jobs in,other projects, lack of room forced sale. Sad

Nice three digit, three letter number plate and log book to go with her. Very Happy
History file, invoices, books and magazines. Very Happy

All said and done we are only the custodians of these vehicles until nature dictates we are forced to part with them Sad

I always tease the wife about her suddenly becoming a most popular widow when I pop my clogs. Sad

Chaps will be knocking on the door with bunches of flowers and chocolates as a sweetener, itching to get their hands on my vehicles, spares and tools. Very Happy

Great find - I am most jealous although I too have heard about an A35, a 1958 4 door that's been sitting in a garage since 1977 - I'm sure it won't be in as good condition as yours though! Looks extremely solid, and Speedwell Blue is arguably the best colour for A30/35's Cool

I agree with Rich, a great colour for an A35 - seems there are a few owners on here now. Are you going to chase up this one you've heard about RH?

Certainly am - it's only about 10 minutes away so would be rude not to! Not sure how much he wants for it, all I know is it's black, has about 30000 miles on the clock, has its original numberplate (****NO) and is very original. I'm going to phone the chap today and see if I can get a viewing Very Happy

That is what I would like next an A40 Farina Countryman. Very Happy
Two tone in colour. Very Happy

Is that the name of the colour of our A35 Speedwell Blue Question

I missed a cracker a few weeks back. Sad
Found in a garage, the old chap had died. Sad
I rang at 7.45am in the morning, the person selling it said he was going out and would be back at 10.00am,I was to ring then to arrange a visit later that day.
Rang at 10.00am prompt, was told his wife had taken a call while he was out,a man was on his way with a trailer and the cash. Shocked

To put it mildly I was LIVID. Sad Sad

He said if the other man did not want it I could then have second choice. Sad

The price was a steal, the car was a good one,you can guess the outcome.

I was a little upset for the rest of the day.
Sad
Life is not fair Exclamation Exclamation

Yep Speedwell Blue. The only other blue offered for the A35 was Island Blue, and that is much darker Smile
