Wings & Wheels to Celebrate Vulcan's

50th Anniversary of First Flight

Wings & Wheels is delighted to be celebrating the Avro Vulcan B2 V-bomber's 50th anniversary of its first flight with confirmation the iconic aircraft will participate at Dunsfold Wings & Wheels on Sunday 29th and Monday 30th August. The world's only Avro Vulcan capable of flying will form one of the key attractions in the Airshow's four hour flying displays.

The Vulcan to the Sky Trust is commemorating the 50th anniversary of Vulcan XH558's first flight by naming the aircraft "The Spirit of Great Britain", in recognition of what she represents to both aviation and military heritage, and of the effort and determination that went into returning her to flight.

Airworthy again after more than 10 years of campaigning and comprehensive restoration work by the 'Vulcan to the Sky Trust', the striking delta-wing bomber was the last of its kind to serve in the Royal Air Force. Based at Bruntingthorpe Airfield in Leicestershire, the first flight since the aircraft was de-commissioned in 1993 took place in October 2007.

Jamie McAllister, Event Director comments: "The Vulcan drew a huge crowd to last year's Wings & Wheels when she performed her first flight over the skies of Dunsfold Aerodrome. We are all really excited to confirm she will be displaying on both days this year adding another iconic flying machine to an already incredible line-up of aviation favourites. Tickets are now on sale from £16 and can be purchased from www.wingsandwheels.net <http> ."

The 'Vulcan to the Sky Trust' has so far raised in excess of £7M to restore and return the Vulcan to flight, this is in no small part due to over 25,000 individuals world-wide who have made a contribution to the fund. It is estimated that some £2M is required per year to keep the Vulcan in the skies. For more information visit http://www.vulcantothesky.org/

Also confirmed at this year's spectacular two day show are the:

Ø RAF Typhoon

Ø RAF Hawk (Solo Hawk Jet)

Ø RAF Tutor (Solo Training Aircraft)

Ø Lynx Helicopter

Ø Blades Aerobatic Display Team

Ø Breitling Wingwalkers

Ø Hawker Hunter (Jet)

Ø Hawker Hurricane (WW2)

Ø Red Bull Matadors

Ø Aerobatic Glider Display

Ø Tigers Parachute Team

The 'Wheels' of the show is masterminded by Brooklands Museum who have lined-up an assortment of motoring icons, including Aston Martins, Ferraris, Jaguars, AC Cobras, Lotuses, Porsches, TVRs and the McLaren Mercedes SLR, to entertain the crowds as they demonstrate their speed and power up and down the runway made famous by BBC's Top Gear.

And if that wasn't enough, a fairground, aviation and motoring simulators, trampolines, motorbike demonstrations and trials, driving opportunities with Mercedes-Benz World and much more are set to pack the central arena. Sitting alongside the arena is the retail village which will house over 50 stalls selling hand crafted gifts, from jewellery to toys, aviation books and memorabilia, paintings and models, clothing and food.

Attracting phenomenal crowds of over 25,000 in 2009 with some of the finest aircraft and motoring displays in the UK, Wings & Wheels is not just an Airshow, it's an exciting weekend of family entertainment.

The two day show is being held over the August Bank Holiday, Sunday 29th and Monday 30th August, at Dunsfold Park near Guildford, Surrey and is open to spectators from 9.00 to 18.00.

Tickets prices remain the same as 2009 and start from: £16 for adults, £5 for under 15's and £36 for a family. Hospitality packages start at £120 per person. For more information or to book a ticket visit www.wingsandwheels.net <http> or call 01483 542226.

Wings & Wheels is promoted by Dunsfold Park Limited to help raise monies for nominated charities: Brooklands Museum Trust, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, Cranleigh Village Hospital Trust and Help for Heroes.
