I saw this film when I was about 7 or 8 years old. It was one of these films that I have never forgotten, possibly because my father was driving trucks at the time and when I listened to his stories the film seemed all too real.
Fast forward to the early 90s and I also went through a truck driving phase only it was artics weighing in at 44 tonnes. I was often on jobs where there were a number of drivers who would all leave the yard at the same time, going to the same location and I often thought about this very film as we were all hurrying to get there. Without going into too many details the job sucked, the attitude of management was dreadful and when two drivers died in separate non related incidents all the boss could do was complain about being a truck down and the cost that was involved recovering a wrecked tractor unit.

A film from my formative years - often on during the day I think but I'm now going to settle down for some real nostalgia and watch it. No doubt will be overcome by a desire to own a Dodge shortly.
I recall some comedian quipping it was the only make wise enough to tell pedestrians what to do or something on those lines. _________________ Jonathan Butler
