How do you find original reg number?

Hi, i have a vehicle which at some point has had an aged related plate given, probably the original reg was sold???
Anybody know how i could find out the vehicles original plate? thanks Ian

The DVLA will give a list of previous owners and sometime even a copy the last old Local authorityLog Book - it was £5. This will give all the old numbers

Might have guesded there would be form now - I just used to write a short note and enclose £5 - I suppose its more money as well

I did this for my Cambridge recently, and I was disappointed to find they only had history going back to 1988. This only included one small reference to the previous reg number (AJN 41A) and nothing at all about the original reg (PJN 656). The only thing it really told me was that one man had owned it from 1988-2010, unfortunately when I went round to his house I was told he'd moved out in May (the same month he sold the car) Sad
