Spotted a link to Reg Harris the cyclist and remembered that he had a much ridiculed attempt at four wheels. Whilst researching this I came across these delightful clips:

Hi. I am the current owner of Reg Harris's MG TD featured in the clip and have been doing some research myself. Would you be prepared to share what you have learned about Reg's driving "career"? |

That is Harry Crutchleys old car MNE 4 and I seem to recall some postings on it before. I knew it well between 1971 and his death and did some miles in it.
Don't know about its much more interesting early history though. _________________ Jonathan Butler

That's all I learned about his career, apart from some dim memories I think may have involved an attempt at Grand Prix racing.

Hi Don - Thanks for that. There is a chapter in Reg Harris' autobiography Two Wheels to the Top about his exploits on 4 wheels. I have ascertained that Reg and MNE 4 did in fact finish the RAC Rally in 1952 coming 22nd out of 74 in the Class One Open Car category. I am going to the National Motor Museum next week to collect 5 photographs of MNE 4 taken during the Rally from the Charles Dunn archive
Jonathan - I am a member of the Octogan Car Club. I would be pleased to hear your memories of MNE 4 if you have the time. Perhaps you could contact me directly through the club.
