Hi chaps, I'm doing some long term work on my Standard Ten and have removed the seats although not yet split or cracked the leather feels "brittle" and I feel would not last to long with out some sort of remedial action so what would you recommend for A) renovating and softening the leather or B) protecting it in long term out of sunlight storage. I have enough to spend my money on at the moment with out having to re trim the seats so any advice welcomed please.

The only product that I know works an treat is Liquid leather (Gliptone) brilliant stuff and I have found it impossible to find better treatments.

I'll second that - it's a superb range of products. I'll be using their stuff to re-dye my rear seat and door cards to match my newly re-trimmed front seats (a little winter project to keep me amused).

I have used leather feed - from a saddler -similar to Connolly's hide feed (now available from www.ukhide.co.uk ) to soften the leather. Seemed to work quite well. A re-trimmer also told be to use aqueous cream to feed some newly covered seats he did for me. Much cheaper!
I have used the cleaning fluid from Woolies which worked remarkably well on badly stained 1939 seats of mine. Although they were pretty "dry" afterwards, the hide feed softened them up.
