Do we neerd spy planes,aircraft carriers or even an army anymore?.
Why on earth would anyone want to invade tghis country anymore,there's nothing left worth taking.

I know someone whose son was in the Group flying Nimrods.

His personal view has 2 sides.

1: He enjoyed what he was doing and is uncertain about being happy in a new posting.

2: The technology was out of date and the writing had been on the wall for years. He would quip that there was more powerful and modern technology in his son's Play Station.

......... I understand that 1 aircraft will be maintained and even flown by a Museum Group and that is a good thing.

Times change, and just like the Sunderland - Lancaster - Vulcan, examples should be maintained and we move on.

About half a century ago the tragic de-compression of civilian Comet Airliners, with the loss of every soul on board, destroyed peoples trust in the plane and possibly marked the decline for British Airliners.
Now, after that half century we are mourning(?) the loss of its development as a military aircraft.
It could not have been such a bad design, could it? If introduced with round widows rather than square, would the World aviation industry be as now? Would the best airliners be De Havilland?
