Think yourself lucky.
I know of one show that is charging £5 pre-booked £7 on the day but not guaranteeing entry,
They also have the gall to state on the entry that they have to charge as they don't charge the general public.
The show is supposed to be on the pavements in a town centre.
Bet the shops make a good bit of money from Joe public who come to see the show.
Would Joe public be there if the vehicles weren't there.

Rip off again.

I won't pay to show my car, it just doesn't seem right! Happy to take it to shows who let me in with the car and charge Joe Public to get in, but why should I pay to show other people MY car??

As you say, rip off mate!

Never went to a show that requires an entry fee - if anything we should be getting a share of the profits, and thanked in the process!

If classics stopped turning up then what have they - burger vans and a few autojumble stalls, and they won't last long if nobody with an interest is not there buying.

I've heard the alternative arguement so many times now its as old as the cars attending - they charge to support club funds, because no funds means no club, which in turn means no shows. It just doesn't wash, if groups want to run a club then have fund raising that doesn't penalise the very same people that they are supposed to represent by promoting and supporting our hobby.
Instead of seeing us as a "cash-cow" its time certain clubs and profit-making companies started realising they are accelerating the demise of classic vehicle ownership by adding to our increasing costs.
