Found a slight problem with the ‘8’. The carb piston face has a raised lip around the circumference which I don’t think is correct for the body, as when the ‘lip’ is fully down the shoulder is proud of the top of the body by @ ¼ inch.
Casting / Type marks are as follows:
Body – 577D (Inside)
Piston – 377B solid i.e. no piston damper
Dashpot – no markings so does it fit the piston or the body?
The needle has been lowered to allow adjustment and the car does run well.
Does anyone have a spare piston and dashpot to suit the body or alternatively a spare carb for sale

Some of those early su carb's are different to the later one's,if the engine run's ok why change it. |
