yes noel, i'm planning on it being my daily

sorry I've not been on for a while, heres how she looks now.....

and the engine bay, as of today.....

I've also had her running this afternoon, just a drop of petrol down the carb and she fired straight away but don't try this at home.... Laughing ....theres no oil, oil filter or rocker cover on yet and no water in the radiator (i've still to connect all the pipes up)
I know you all may think its not good, running without oil....but it was only for a matter of seconds just to see if it did run after the rebuild Razz

so still a few bits to finish off, but should be done fairly soon Very Happy
then I can sell the cinquecento! Very Happy

no ray, no problems with the manifold

infact the manifold is the least of the problems I'm having at the moment.......I've had leaking wheel cylinders, so new cylinders and new shoes then yesterday....the master cylinder seals let go.....so I'm waiting for a new master cylinder to arrive.

on a lighter note, the engine is all back together and running like a dream

so getting there slowly...just the gremlins to sort out Very Happy

Can`t believe your doing this knowing wide wheels were an option you took earlier !!! Blending in the paintwork is going to be twice as difficult---did you have a "brainstorm" at some stage,or have you got plenty of patience and money ! Will look the bees when finished tho....

Cheers---Ray the Rocker....

hi ray, not really a 'brainstorm' Laughing my plan was to paint the arches a different colour......yellow to be exact, but I've been talked out of that idea by the wife Rolling Eyes

so purple they'll be and blended in I suppose

in other news......
I've ordered my tyres today for the alloys
I'm awaiting a clutch master cylinder arriving from america as mine started leaking
and my water pump has started leaking too Crying or Very sad

so still a few bits to do after I've finished with the fibre glass.
but yeah, I think it'll look 'the bees knees' too

thanks for the photos mate Smile

sorry for the lack of updates, but i've had some major issues with the (bloody) simca.....why did I never listen when people told me never to buy a french car ? Laughing

heres what went wrong over the last couple of weeks......

engine ran fine to begin with, then bang, clatter clatter....cam shaft timing gear had worked loose, so engine out (again) to sort it.

then the fuel pump sucked some sludge up from the bottom of the tank, blocking all the jets in the carb. so fuel tank had to be cleaned out (yes I should of done it when it was off the car) so to get the tank out, the engine had to be removed again.

then the wheel cylinders started leaking again after new seals had been fitted, so new cylinders all round and new shoes.

then the other day, I put the ignition key in, turned it and just got the click from the solenoid, I thought great, starter motor has gone faulty so removed it, stripped it and cleaned all the brushes then refitted it to get another click from the solenoid........it was a bad earth from the chassis to the engine block! grrrrrr

anyway as I sit here typing this, all the above is sorted and I'm going to do a test drive tommorow.....then hopefully the mot will be one day through the week.

jason's tip of the day....month...in fact year.........never buy a simca! Laughing the alvis was far easier Laughing Laughing Laughing

p.s....I'll get some photos posted up tommorow

well after problem after problem sorted.....she's going for the mot in the morning so fingers crossed Confused

if it fails, I'm thinking of getting the mechanic to sort it out.. Embarassed ....its been a right nightmare of a restoration compared to the Alvis.

and before anyone says it......I know I should never of bought it Laughing
