I have had my front suspension apart to replace a broken leaf spring amongst other things, whilst I made a note of which side which spring goes on, I did not notice that the central mounting is not central at all, but is about 2 inches out of center - giving a long and a short end.
Does anyone know if there is a basic principle at work to help me get the correct orientation. I can I guess reassemble the whole lot and see if the wheels look to far forward or back, but that is lot of work if I get it wrong.
Thanks

Hi Tim,

My first guess would be that the shorter parts would be ahead of the axle and looking at a couple of chassis pictures I use elsewhere the second (an MG SA) I think confirms my guess. Looking at a few other photos I have of SS chassis they too have the smaller part ahead of the axle. I would look at my own car but I'm away from home at the moment.

Peter
