It's an experiment to see if it a) creates more of a community feel amongst likeminded owners of Austins, Fords etc and b) maybe brings up older interesting threads nearer to the top of the pile, that perhaps more recent members haven't yet clapped eyes on.
If it doesn't lead to further interest in that section, with no increase in usage/interest, it'll probably revert to how it was previously.
Thanks for the feedback

Hi Rick, I was initially disappointed when I saw them sorted by make. I think it means I'll read less of them. However, I am an example of your case where an older thread had disappeared but was revived by the splitting out of the makes into separate sections.
It will always be impossible to please everybody, but for now, I'm happy with it & wouldn't ask you to change it back!
Thanks for all the work you do to keep the forum going, its a great resource and a very pleasant place to be!
Regards,
Paul. |

Interesting point about keeping "Your Cars" unsorted/non-generic but whilst my wife and me are committed Rovernuts my wife still has her 1st car which she bought in 1972 which is a 1968 Morris Mini Traveller Mk2, I still have a lot of past experience of other makes including motorbikes and do like reading about these other makes especially cars that have long gone from my life eg my late dad's big fast Ford Zephyr 6 he had in the late 1960's or the awfully slow and uncomfortable 100e Escort "shooting brake" of 1961 he had in the mid 1960's. All these cars I learnt on how to look after our present so called classics all but one which is pre-war from the same era when they were as new as the "pre-owned" 2-3 yr old Toyota's of today.
That is the whole point about this general forum - variety. I also contribute to a number of Rover/Land Rover forums (fora?) but can assist in and also learn from others.
The new style will help find personal favourites although I still look at 99% of new posts every day anyway _________________ Rover P2

I have an interest in quite a few different makes and I must say I like the new structure. The combination of make category and the date of latest posting make it very easy to spot new input that interests me.
