The rebuild on my Austin is progressing I have got most of the frame wire brushed and clean, and have finished the diff. I am now working on getting the frame ready to put the motor back on. Something I have been thinking about is the plastic on the steering wheel rim, which has all crumbled off, and I was wondering if there is a method of rebuilding this or not.

The early steering wheels were covered in celluloid, no idea if this can be reproduced these days.

I have heard of people using Plasti dip, availible from Frosts. It is usually thought of when plier handles need a covering,or other tools.

I understand it goes thin when it is applied so may need several coats.

I am thinking of trying it on an old steering wheel for my BSA trike.

If you use it would you report back?

intresting story behind fitting in those new rings, i found them on ebay, but i didnt know they were oversize by .03 of an inch! we had to grind a little off the tips of the break on each one until they fit right, spent almost all day getting them to fit
