Hey there been a while since I have posted...

But I have been quite busy doing stuff.

Last night me and a friend went to search for some old cars.
And we did find their remains..

First up a Volvo LV125

Second some kinda french car..
My friend thinks its a Renault R4

But this car has a steering column gear shifter did the R4 have those at all?

The sad remains of another truck. This might be an Austin of some kind

You can find some more pictures here

The Renault is actually a 12,though I've never seen one with a column shift.Maybe an automatic?

I think they probably did have a column shift - well the 16 did (I had one of those) and I think it shared to same mechanical layout with a north/south engine and the gearbox out front.

Before I got to reading Julian's posting I was just thinking that the car looked, to me, more like a 16.

I don't think the 12 has a rear quarter window and the R4 rear quarter window wouldn't end up that shape even if squashed.

Maybe you're right, it is a 16. You can still make out the windscreen de-mister air outlet - it ran the full length of the windscreen and had vertical 'slatting.' Though I think the design may have been used on other Renaults too.... Those 'three nut' road wheels still look like they've got early radial tyres on like the Michelin X or ZX.

I remember those wheels with no centre orifice, you couldn't get them on a dynamic wheel balancer.

I agree with Julian - R12's had floor shifts (I had a 12TL in in the late 1970's and almost bought a 12TR which was the auto. The saloon was a 4 door 4 light too although there was an estate

It definitely Renault with those wheels and the dash style was used on a number oF Renaults of the late 60/70's
