My dad has just bought a 1970 Austin 1100 auto to run around in (pictures later). Al is well but we've noticed that the automatic gearbox changes up way to early (before the revs have picked up enough) so when its cold you have the change the gears manually as the engine just bogs down. No wierd noises, it drives fine and apprently the previous owner changed the oil (I know its combined angine and gearbox lubrication on these). Any ideas?

I'll ask dad when I next see him (he's just left), his Vanden Plas 1300 is auto too. It changes gear at low speeds too - correctly - but doesn't bog down like your's seems to be doing.

It's 40 odd years since I've seen one but isn't there a cable from the carb. linkage down to the gearbox? If so it might need adjustment.
