Hi all as in the title is our problem . Our floats are the moulded fixed type so I'm assuming I would need to shim the needle valve to help rduce float height . Any suggestions would be much appreciated .

Is it not a sticking needle valve? I had that with the green 122S on a couple of occasions.

Thanks for the reply but no new valve inserted as had repair kit delivered today . The thought at the moment is that as I have non adjustable floats I need to get some brass shims .

I did have a brass float on an Aussie Ford that decided to spring a leak on a busy 6 lane highway. I managed to get it off the road and went back for it next day. Of course I got a few extra gray hairs trying to work out the problem. As the float was sunk in the bowl, the solution was to drive it "hard " and use as much fuel as possible. Lucky I was not far from home, about 5 klms. Another problem with that car was it would stop running when sitting at traffic lights etc. I found the solution was hit the carby. with a hammer or piece of heavy steel ! The problem was the brass non return valve was worn, when replaced, I had no more problems. Always look at the needle in needle valves carefully, if the get worn , they can have a step in them.

Although you say the mechanism is non adjustable, you do realise that some can be adjusted by bending the arm?

I have had a problem in the past, where the arm met the needle valve at an unsuitable angle, forcing the needle valve sideways causing enough friction to make it bind.

Regards Kels.
