A bit of electrical advice please.
Can anyone talk me through the simplest electrical set up for engine testing please.
I would like to make sure the engine actually goes before I get too much further down the road so to speak.
4 cyl s/v 1185cc Hillman
Engine has fuel pump (mechanical) attached, distributor fitted, coil fitted but no fuse box regulator and car is not wired. Just don't want to make a silly schoolboy error.
Thanks

Hi

All you need is to connect the battery to the SW side of the coil, check the other side of the coil is connected to the dizzy. To check that there is HT, with the dizzy cap off, and the coil HT lead removed from the dizzy cap, and placed about 1/4" away from any point on the chassis/ earth, flick the points open and closed with a screwdriver, and check that you get a decent spark.

Be worth checking the static timing as well

Dave
