Hi there,first i like to introduce myself,my name is René and i live near Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
Since a couple of months the proud? owner of a '48 EO4A Anglia(LHD),i became owner of this little Ford by trading it with a racing moped and had no intention to keep it but i fell in love with the damnd thing Embarassed
Now i am driving it as a daily driver.........
Before this Ford i owned several classic cars,'56 Opel Rekord,'64 Kadett,Fiat 850 and several 2cv's.
The last classic was sold when i decided to keep the Ford(Daf 44).
When i know how i will post some pic's,sorry about my English but it is not my native language Rolling Eyes

Thanks Rick,these pic's are made just after i bought the car,overall it was a little scruffy.
Failing electrics,some rust,leaking roof,leaking fuel and oil.
Now i have sorted things out and repared the most of the problems,luckely there is no MOT in Holland for cars before 1960 so that is a problem less Laughing
I have made a new wiring loom,replaced the taillights for"classic look lights",new fuellines,new dynamo,complete serviced the engine and driveline and tightend all the loose bolts and screws.
The brakes are cleaned and adjusted,drums,pads and cables are in good nick.
The starter and dynamo where refurbished by a specialist,but the dynamo stayed problematic,it melted after some time.First i thought the cut-out was guilty of this error,i replaced the cut-out for a refurbished one byt the dynamo(3 brush lucas)kept giving problems.
At last i bought a bosch 6 volt dynamo with a seperate regulator,50amp.problemfree Rolling Eyes
The next thing to do is the steeringbox,someone who has a good one?must be a left hand drive.......
I did some research in Holland,this EO4A Anglia is very rare overhere,for now i did'nt seen or heard about another eo4a in Holland,only the later models are here.Are there in the UK many EO4A's left?

I think that forties cars are probably quite rare everywhere. Certainly in the UK and probably throughout a lot of Europe, there wasn't a lot of money about to purchase new cars and petrol rationing persisted in some countries post war for a surprisingly long time. In the UK, private motoring largely consisted of digging prewar cars out of storage whence they had gone in 1942 when private motoring petrol rations were finally cut for non essential users.
I have a 1946 Morris 10, which is one of only 50 or so survivors known to the owners club, (possibly world wide).

I like to build a trailer hatch i think it is called under my '48 Ford Anglia so i can pull my trailer with my classic racing bike to the races.
I know i have to build it myself,that is not a problem because i am a certified welder and metalconstructor.
To build this first i need to know how much weight a '48 Anglia is allowed to pull.
Perhaps somebody know this and like to share this knowledge with me?
Also if there are eny drawings of such a construction????..........

What a great motorcycle Smile What is its history?

I don't know about the towing limits of an Anglia, I doubt that Ford ever publishing a towing weight.

Thanks Rick,the bike is designed and built by myself.
I am racing these kind of racing bikes for many,many years now and i owned several of these racers.
The bike i have been riding until the last race in 2011 i used for almost 10 years,unfortunally in the last race it was destroyed in a huge crash.
So last winter i built this bike to replace the other one.
The most of these bikes we are racing are replica,s......original 50cc racers are very rare or completely worn out,a replica is not such a shame when you crash it.
The engine i use is a Sachs 50s.......but i use only the crankcases and some gears,the rest of the engine is home built.
Some spec's:
Rotating disc inlet.
Special racing crank
Close ratio gearbox
exhaust facing backwarts
30mm carburettor
Home made 50cc cillinder watercooled
approx.19.5 hp(rear wheel)=about 23hp crankshaft

amazing stuff - were your designs based on any one particular machine? or several? It would be interesting to see a thread about these machines in the motorcycle category if you get a chance.

Rick....my designs are based on expirience from many years of racing.
Ofcourse some ideas are stolen from other constructors Mr. Green
Jamathi was a great inspiration for me and v.Veen Kreidler also.
Beginning a new tread would be nice but i am afraid i don't have the time for it......... Rolling Eyes
Now it is racing season,i am almost every weekend somewhere racing and the other days of the week i got to work and repair all the things i destroyed in the weekend Laughing
Something like this..........

Perhaps when it is winter time...........

Because the front leaf spring of my "48 Anglia is broken and also worn out i ordered a new leaf spring in the U.K.
I also ordered a"Fluid Cusion Suspension Kit"to improve the road handling.
This kit contains a upper mounting bracket and a lower mounting bracket but no shock absorbers.
Is there someone who fitted such a kit on his Anglia or Popular and can tell me what shocks will do the job properly?
This is the kit .

It may be worth asking someone from Belcher Engineering, they do a lot with old Fords and have experience of Ford 8s and 10s.

Today i fitted the new front leaf spring on my '48 Anglia,surprisingly enough there were no problems with the fitting Laughing
Also mounted the "Fluid Cusion Suspension Kit"........very easy to fit but then i needed shockabsorbers........after some measuring and a phonecall a couple of VW beetle shocks were bought.
Ofcourse they don't fit,the hole in the rubber bushing was too small Crying or Very sad
I pressed the bushings out of the shocks and replaced them by rubbers from a Saab........now they fit perfect.
The advert dosn't lie...."Fluid Cusion Suspension Kit"makes his name true,before this kit was fitted it was a bit of a bumpy ride,now the ride has improved 100%.......i am happy Very Happy
Next project is more of a challenge,i want to fit a 1300cc Kent from a escort mk1 into the Anglia....... Embarassed
I know,it is not original but because i use the car as a daily driver i want to have some "oumpf"under the bonnet to get a little more"flow"into the daily traffic.
In the area i live and drive(near Schiphol airport)all the yuppies in their big beemers and alfa's are completely idiots,overtaking left and right and switching lanes like mad,.........i want to give some competition Wink
