He he! I am pretty sure nothing would phase my dad now, he has seen it all, and he expects anything to turn up! he just shakes his head and walks off!
I think the pickup was more of a shock, as I said very little about it to my family, until I agreed to have it off you!
My mum has actually grown to love nca 129, but she likes old cars. I am pretty sure when I get round to getting her on the road everyone will think it was a good idea after all, then you will be a hero!

Yeah I have that watched, it has been listed a few times now, not reaching the reserve. I tried convincing my mum she needed a pickup, or my gran that can't drive needs a pickup, but it didn't work!

P.S... I haven't noticed the doors but now you say, they do look a a little strange! Does the cab have curved back corners, it is hard to tell from the pics? |

It seems his reserve is to high anyhow! Looks quite tidy, but like you say, I would prefere an orriginal pickup!

Congratulations on your latest eBay win !!!! I bet you will be in profit very quickly just selling a few of the items that you don't want, this would be my approach in letting your parents know!! 
Be interesting to see what is there, there were tins that were closed in the pics, its going to be like Christmas for you !!

Hi
Thought I better reply this morning as I was rather tired last night! What a story!!
I wnet to collect them, left at 12 noon ish, then got there at 4.10pm, as we managed to get on the wrong Bl**dy Motorway!!
Then as we were late, the woman had gone out, so I had to wait for her to come bak in, waited until about 6.30, when we were about to leave without them! She arrived! Picked them up, must have been well over a ton in weight, my mates van, rated at 1.5ton was nearly scraping the floor, the leaf springs were totaly flat. got most of the way home, getting lost a few times, and realised we had a damn flat tyre. Was the tyre under all of the tools? No it was underslung, thank god!!
Changed that just about, the scisor jack could hardly lift the van!
Got home to my mates place, then picked my mini up, went back to the garage and unloaded, did get some piccies, but it was too dark so they never came out. I think we got back between 11pm and 12 midnight! I am going there today to sort out, so will take some pictures. The garage is so full you can hardly get in!
I also was carrying the large pillar type drill tat is actually very big, with an industrial chuck and a taper fitting, I droped it on to the wing of my estate! really peed off, looked under the cover and there is a smmall dent in the crome trim and very small cratch to the primer, so need to touch that up and polish it in. Haven't got any paint though so will have to get the door off and get a colour match at the paint shop!
Anyway, got to go and sort these tools! My see you later Rick!

Hmmm, yeah I got a number 5 vice with various soft jaws, the hand cranked pillar drill is a reall nice one with a taper fitting, about 500 drill bits to go with it, spanners - not looked at them yet, just in a crate, about 50 hammers, punches, tyre pressure testers, genset gauges, few grease guns, oilers, funnels, rooks of electrical conectors, nails, wing nuts, grub screwes, squares, surface gauage, feeler gauges, taps and dyes, and loads of miscilanous tools - 3 crates worth, pincers, pliers, bolt cutters with various heads - not checked the blade conditions yet, big stilsons - think they are 24's. I will try to get some pictures soon, but I have them all stacked up now so not very impresive!
I am planning on doing some electrolysis and some soaking them im molasses, to clean them up, thanks to rusyreks, for all of the info on these two proceses!
I should sell the drill press, but I quite like it, may have to see if I can sell some of the other bits to get some of my money back!

Buzzy, is that pillar drill a two-speed belt-driven one, it looks like it in the photo? If so then it is another thing towards your Victorian workshop, Fred Dibnah style You must now look out for a lineshaft and some pulleys, then you'll be away, either with the Lister or a period electric motor.

I think it is single speed, and is hand driven but can soon put a pulley on it! hehe 
I am tempted to keep it, I have a simmilar drill already, be it a little smaller, but I promise my parents I would sell it, and some of the other tools, this was the bargain for getting them in the first place!

P.S... The drill is a Union A1, I haven't done any research yet, but if anyone know anything about them please let me know! |
