Hi, I live in Melbourne Australia, and own a 1968 Jaguar 240. It's the same as a Mk2, but slightly less opulent inside, and with the slimline bumpers (which I think look better anyway...)
I owned a British Racing Green 1966 MGB from 1994 to 1999, and it rapidly rusted out from beneath me. You'd think that would be enough to cure me, but no. When I purchased the Jag (affectionately known as "The Duchess") in October 2007, I became reaquainted with towtrucks, Lucas electrics, oil leaks and other fun stuff. And I'm hooked.
She's not the fastest off the mark (in fact, she accelerates like an asthmatic lorry). Fuel economy is something best not thought about. But it IS travelling in style! _________________ www.hepcatclassics.com - for classic car artworks |

Ah yes! That sounds familiar. Welcome to the forum from a 1939 Jaguar Mark 3 270 driver.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Here are a couple more pics.
Normally combining whisky and cars is a bad idea, but I think it works well in this shot...
On the Great Ocean Road - south of that water is Antarctica. Oh, and Tasmania.
Cheers,

That lovely dashboard is difficult to beat. Stuff all this ergonomics. That row of toggle switches and small instruments is just great and so much better than the horrible (cheap) rocker switches that afflicted the later cars.

Not only does that dashboard look lovely, but it hinges down and makes the wiring very accesible.

She was a great old girl, but I've sold the 240 now. Still not sure what my next classic will be. I've got my first child due in under a week, so perhaps a classic will have to wait a bit!! _________________ www.hepcatclassics.com - for classic car artworks |

What a pity.
A few Jaguar Mark 2 estates or shooting brakes were made.

Hello,
Nice to meet a fellow MK2 owner.
I have a MK2 3.8ltr manual 1961.
And the very underrated Daimler 2.5ltr V8 manual.
Both cars shall we say are modified like the Beacham, JD Classics or Martin Robey cars.
Uprated engines,gearboxes,brakes,suspension etc.
I will dig out some photo`s
