mm the coachwork looks pretty good doesn't it - the lack of a rear window and droopy headlining suggests that the interior may be kippered though Confused well worth saving mind, I wonder who owns it???

Yeah, the roof has been jumped up and down on and there are a few tags on it. It's a pretty good area so I'm not sure it was vandalized there. Not sure how long it's been there. I've only lived there for a year and only been using that route for a couple of weeks. The interior is a bit nasty but complete. What would you pay for something like that?

The DVLA seem to have a record of the car.

The vehicle details for PJO 620 are:

Date of Liability 01 03 1997
Date of First Registration 14 03 1951
Year of Manufacture Not Available
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2088CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour MAROON
Vehicle Type Approval null

Looks as if it was on the road 12 years ago.

Hey guys!

Why don't we remember that one man's meat is another's poison?

If we all liked the same cars, our hobby would be incredibly boring!

The variety and choice we all have is what makes it all so interesting!

Keith

(PS - I certainly wouldn't kick that Renown out of MY driveway!)

Hey Keith, don't take us too seriously. I might slag off Nic's Talbot but if truth be told I would very happily give it a home, even if does only have 45 horses. Wink

As for the Renown, I see it has the later 2 litre engine which is a big plus point when it comes to spares.

Here's one that might help on price http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php/carno/53171

I would love to leave a deposit on Peters Jag,and he can wipe it off. We like a bit of lively banter. I still think the Mayflower is a minger but it is not as bad as a Ford Anglia.

Hi Nic,

I don't think William Morris shared your thoughts on the Anglia. Is that not the nearest thing to a replica Anglia engine that propels your Morris 8?

Peter Laughing

p.s. Even if you sold your complete collection you couldn't afford the deposit on my Jag. Twisted Evil

p.p.s. Wink

Agreed Very Happy I was not slagging off Nic's Talbot, either. My parents ran Talbot 65 (the development of Nic's 14/45) and 75 models, and I rate them as one of the very best of pre-war cars. I was just pointing out that it was unfair to compare the one-and-only highly developed Talbot 105/110 team car with a cooking Triumph Renown. Compare like with like, and the Renown stands up well against a saloon Talbot 65, neither of which were sports cars or had any real sporting performance.

The 1939 E04A anglia was a nice looking car as was the 1948 E494A. The 1953 100e was a bit dull, missing the charm of the A30s etc. But the 1959-68 105E was just awfull. It copied the 1956 "Robbie the Robot" mouth and had a nasty under powered 997cc ( the Super had an 1198 long stroke engine). It handled like a bucket and would roll if not too careful, I know. And Mike, our Talbot 14/45 IS a model 65 but it was rebuilt as a Scout.
Shall we start a new thread on "cars we dislike and why"?

The Anglia name first appears in 1939 with just another version of the 7Y or Ford 8 that first hit the streets back 1933? and as I understand it the Morris 8 engine was designed by taking all the principal dimensions from the Ford.

The 105E Anglia is a great little car. Quite nippy for 997cc, very sweet four speed gearbox and pretty good handling. Very definitely no dog.

We certainly appear to have hyjacked poor B.J.'s intro thread. Might be a good idea so long as we don't alienate the whole world of old classic car enthusiasts.
