That's some really nice work. It looks like a classic labour of love.

As far as I have found, there is only one other operable here, although it is in bad shape and has a Maruti engine in it. Also one beat up shell without engine, chassis, etc.

There are at least three Clubman Estates, and I'm negotiating one of them.

Clubby estate, I had one some years ago, bought as a temporary beatenup car to run around in, it lasted almost 2 years and then got scrapped.
Wish I had kept it in storage now!!

A little more to report.
I found tail light lenses in California, but I was unable to locate the bezels, so I patched up one of them to make molds and made new ones out of melted beer cans.
From the blank state, I filed them to form, sanded with different grades of paper down to 1500 grit, them buffed them.

Also got my seats back from the upholsterer

Meanwhile my body guy started back up on it.
Here the floor of the front clip is welded to the original rear

The newly fabricated panel is in place under the rear window where the wooden seats had rusted out the cabin

These show the modifications to the door frame to fit the Saloon doors

Murphy;s law got in the way of the engine assembly, but here is some progress at the body shop, patching the tailgate and the body mostly straightened and sanded.

I don't know if anyone has ever done this, but I decided I wanted Stainless Steel trim on the rocker panel seams between the wheel wells, so I commissioned the guy who built my BBQ to make me two pieces 1.5 meters long. Obviously the jaws of his machinery weren't great, but it sanded out fine. Now when I get to Tarija I'll give them the final buffing.

To avoid having more rust forming on the new tailgate, this one goes together with an anti-rust coating.

Here is that trim piece after a few minutes on the buffer

Also took an afternoon to assemble the engine

Body shop finished aligning the panels on the left side, expanding the cabin to fit the new doors.
Before

Cut and pull to have a flat gap to fill

final alignment, with test or Targa Red (front) against Fire Red (A panel)(forget the door color). Fire Red wins

Windshield fits in its new home between the 75 and 94 (still have to have a new one made), and new rear window fits with the fabricated panel.

Seems like this Corvair/Mini fetish has spread, I know someone here in Denmark, who also had a Corvair, and Mini Wink

My first car was a 1967 Austin Se7en, saved fresh from the scrapyard. Drove it on some private fields because it had lost its registration forms. Sold it to a Mini specialist. It survived and it is still alive, with an "original" (???) registration.
Then later my girlfriend bought a black 1978 Mini 1100 Special. Quite nice, we did some holidays to the UK in it. Later sold because the rust became too bad - it did not survive.
A few years later I bought a yellow 1.0 Mini very cheap. Sold it on after only a few months because I could not get used to having no suspension (my other car was and always is an Imp which has far much better comfort).
Late nineties I bought a Corvair Lakewood. This is the station wagon version. Bought that in a flash, I liked the quirkiness of it (2 speed auto with a little lever on the dash, 6 cyl air cooled boxer in the back, big brother of the Imp) but had to sold that on because of storage problems then.
I would love to have another (or that same) Corvair (first series only) but I do not think I will have another mini again... Very Happy

Do you know that the rear part of the floor pan (behind the seat cross member) is from total different make of car ?

it has nothing to do with a Mini.

Both Solomorris & Bob2 can veryfi this.

Only mention it, incase you want to fix it, before paint.

Car is coming on really nice Cool

That was the fate of most Special,s (built in Belgium) terrible rust buckets Rolling Eyes

My 78 Mini Special had most of its body panels replaced over the years.
