Hy

My name ist Rainer and I'm a Daihatsu Fan since 1993 where I buy my first Daihatsu (a Daihatsu Charade G102s) from 1991.

Sometimes if you are a fan of a brand you come up with the idea that you want to have a historic car of your brand as it does in my case.

I buyed the car at ebay, as I contact the last registered owner within the car papers the women who answered the phone was very amazed that I could buy the car. She, the mother of the owner, tell me that he gave the car to a big Ford Dealer to scrap while they buy a new car.

Between the ebay seller sold the car at ebay he gave the car to a movie producer who use it for a very short scene whitin an german TV series.

I buy it for 300,- euro.

Complete deassemble it and give it a new paint.

But it is all in german language, sorry for that.

After a complete restoring....

see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uZktZz4r50

I register it as historical car in Austria, so I got a certificate from Daihatsu that my car is builde in December 1980, first registering in Austria was in September 1981.

I hope you can enjoy the movie from youtube.

If made about 2000 pictures while restoring my car and print out about 600 pics and put it to a picture album. I have removed each screw of that car and rebuild it and repair it.....

Greetings

Rainer

Hi all!

First of all, I want to introduce myself!

My name is Petra, and I am from Vienna.I am the wife from Rainer (the owner of the blue G10).

I am very happy that all over the world people love the G10.

And now I want to tell you the latest news Smile

Since last week I am owner of my own, wonderful G10 Smile

Last week, Rainer and me went to the place where he stored the red G10 and I felt in love Smile

I want to restore him in the next 2 or 3 years, and I am pretty sure that this beauty will drive on austrian streets as soon as possible Smile

I am really really happy and looking forward to restoring this car Smile

greetings Smile

Today our 3th G10 comes to Petra's G10 Very Happy

This restore has to go on complete different to the restoration of the blue G10. So in this case we don't hava the garage space left to deassemle it complete and restore it part by part.

We need if "moveable" between the restore steps, so I think we can do it in parts.

I think that this is a good idea to build out the complete engine with gearbox and the complete drivetrain and tires incl. breakes, drivetrains and all other parts exept the steering system (only 2 screws to open) also incl. with the exhaust system till the gearshift, open also the gearshift as one unit with the engine/gearbox/drivetrain unit.

This complete will be then build into the red G10 and connected and started Wink

After that we can restore the complete engine/gearbox/drivetrain unit as long as we need! Smile

Thats the plan....

Here are today's pictures!

Please hold in mind, all pictures are made on ONE DAY!!! Very Happy

Todays pictures

The red front right fender has 2 big dents and a rust hole, the blue one has only very small dint, so I changed it.

Next weekend I change 3 doors (driver, co-driver and rear door co-drivers side).

Belive it or not, THIS is (16 years old) fuel!!

The color of this "fluid" is dark red and it smells like nothing else.

I connect the engine complete electrical, build in the other steering box and connect also the carburator. Cooling liquid is also filled in. Still miss gearbox oil, igintion cables and a batterie..

Anyone has remove same parts of this car within the last 16 years like the brake cylinder on the rear axle...

On Sunday I will change also the fuel tank and maybe also the complete rear axle, the we make the first start try with fresh fuel.

One of the last pictures of the golden one before it goes to his last travel on 16. September 2010 Sad Thank you for sooo many parts Sad

Starting the winter restauration season with the carburator Smile

as you know, thats the carburatot before!!!!

Today we took a closer look to the cylinderhead of Petra's G10. In the past I wonder a bit that the cam shaft could not be fully roteted but I don't give it a special credit.

But it was awful. The engine has only runs for 114.000km but it looks that it does this without any oil change....

There are so many (and deep) brush marks and you should also took a sharper look to the side of each cam....

It was a very beatiful day today here, we had a lot of sun and about 15 deg. celsius, great to work on the car Very Happy

Nachdem das Wetter heute soooo schön war hab ich wieder a bissal geschraubt am roten Very Happy

Normally the sun is'nt very strong in Austria, but if the car stay for more then 16 years on one place with full sun it does also "work" on the carpet and seats's...

Then I devide the engine from the gearbox from the origin engine was build in in the red G10..

Those breakfluid distributor I also changed, but I forgot to get new breakfluid with me to check if the breakes now work or not... Sad

I haven't seen one of those in a long time, here in the UK. There may be a few turbo versions but very few other non-turbo cars.

Hey Rick

Thanks a lot. The Turbo Version comes one generation later, from 1983 to 1987 but with a soft Turbo with carburator and only 68 HP.

What you mean is maybe the Charade GTti from 1987 to 1994 with the legendary CB80 engine with 993ccm with 101 HP?

For the G10 modell you should have a closer look in UK, there ARE such owners, but they are (like here) very rare. And for sure they are not using this as daily drivers.

Here are some G10 Charade from UK.

Maybe all three show UK G10's are not street registered in the moment, but they exist! Smile

If there are members how know more Charade G10 owners please contact me. Smile
