I'm struggling to get a fan belt for my 2,138cc 1962 Standard Ensign Deluxe.
It's the 3/4" wide type, about a yard long.

It's the same part as the Triumph TR3, 4, & 4a, and probably Vanguard.
Rimmers can supply them but they are £20 and I'd just feel ripped off.

Took the belt to Halfords as they used to have a good range to compare with, but not any more in my branch.

The one on the car is marked 20x900 (probably metric size)

Part numbers I have are:
John Bull 60
Standard Triumph Stanpart 58924
Ferodo V391
Mintex TK384

It's annoying as I'm sure it's the same as some modern car but it's knowing which!

How about going direct to a Transmission Product Stockist, not the automotive type but those who sell things like belts, bearings, gearwheels, etc.

I used to buy my wheel bearing at such a place in Sheffield, and because my company bought things from them I also got a good discount that made them cost less than the dealer/spares shop.

Google V Belts UK.

There is a belt stockist here in Wpg, they have racks of belts. Farm equipment, mining m/c, factory m/c and the like.

As above, when I ran Standards about 10yrs back I got a belt for my Phase 2 Vanguard, and 6yrs back for my Flying 12 from my local tractor specialist. Sadly the old guy who worked there is now retired, as he loved finding awkward stuff to relieve the boredom.

Have you got any other part numbers from belt manufacturer eg Ferodo etc as I managed to get some for my 1938 P2 which has an uncommon size from Ebay eventually.

Also commercial non-car belt suppliers for compressors etc should have one in tht size. Have you contacted your owners club.

Older car accessory shop have belt measuring devices to check alternatives and even these turn up on Ebay however at least you have the size although it cannot be the correct one as imperial was used in those days. 20mm seems on the wide side for that period and depending on the pulley depths you mat be able to use a narrower width

The belt angle is more critical than the width, as long as the belt does not bottom in the pulley. It does not matter particularly if it stands proud of the pulleys (or not).
I was faced with finding a belt for a narrowboat with alternator mounting re-positioned. I tracked down a correct angle belt at my local motor factors but with metric dimensions. The first turned out to be about 15mm too short, but I realised the part number was the nominal belt length. Getting one with a part number 15 higher solved the problem. That belt has been in regular service now for about 5 years.

Hi MartinC, check your area for a company called Bearing Services - they have branches here in Scotland but their stuff comes for down South. Up here thy are very helpful & reasonably priced, V391 is a good number but if you take your old belt they can match it - I suspect it's to fit a ' B ' groove pulley. ' A ' groove is 13mm but I can't remember ' B ' but its wider - measured across the flat. Cheers,JohnDale.

Sorry, old age & bad memory crept in. For Bearing Services read BRT Bearings whose head office is in Wisbech,Cambs, phone 01945 464097 for your nearest branch or info@brt-group.com Chears,JD.
