I may need to change from positive earth to negative.
There's no fancy electrics to bother about.

Can someone remind me of the procedure to follow with the dynamo please?

Although I did once connect a car battery backwards and converted the dynamo just from starting the engine!

Hi Martin,

Just disconnect the F and D terminals on the dynamo, connect them together and briefly touch them onto the positive battery terminal and it should start up when you reconnect them as before.

If you have an SU fuel pump do check that there isn't a spark arresting diode connected across the contacts (Remove the Bakelite cover to see it.)

Peter

Thanks Peter,

As I said Phil, there's no electrics to bother about. I'll do the coil of course (although they do work fine connected in reverse), there's no clock, no ammeter, no SU pump.

Depending on terminal type these may have to be replaced or swapped over

Don't know what car we are talking about, but if it is late enough to have any permanent magnet motors such as heater or wiper they will run backwards. Wipers will still work, but the parking cam in the motor will be running contrary to its design profile and will probably fail eventually.
Wound field motors will work as before.
