My mother, who was from Jersey, C.I. learnt to drive on a model T. In order to get a licence back then, 1929, she had to take the car to the local parish constable, who, upon her arrival, asked her if she had driven it there.
Satisfied that she must have some driving skill, he presented her with a licence to drive. |
