Hi, no posts since January, hows the old girl coming along? I have been running a 10/4 since 1986, lovely cars to work on, and drive. The brakes are some of the best on any 30's cars. I have a good mod to save expensive brake cable renenewal if you need it.

Its taken a back seat of late what with working on the utes and Devons, but its safely tucked away and I have a list of things to look out for over the coming months at shows etc!! are you able to post some pics of your 10/4 on the forum somewhere, would be interested to see them!!

Hi I'm trying to post a photo following the instructions given, not very good at this sort of thing.
The photos (if you get them) depict a couple of journeys we did about 5 years ago with the 10/4 towing a 'Chateaumobile' folding caravan (from 1960).
We did two trips from Herne Bay to the 'Great Dorset Steam Fair' and one to the Cotswolds for the ATDC AGM.
In order to improve the power available I had fitted a late 30s Cambridge downdraught manifold and carb and a 4 bladed fan.

Hi Rick, I think that I have a few 18" tyres lying around that may be fit for your purpose. I used to use 400 Avon Roadrunners for the front, they handled fine but did'nt last long. I will check out what I have in morning and what they would cost on the carrier.

Anyone into building specials? I built an Austin 7 one back in 1998.
I fitted a plastic pig (Reliant Robin) power unit; hence the name 'Pigtin'.

Photos show the basis of the car arriving on the back of a pickup. Much of it consisted of someone else's aborted special build.
There were some parts of the old build that were useful, but it had been intended as a Lotus 6 lookalike and I felt that something looked like a Lotus, but only had a fraction of the handling would be ridiculous.

There is a chap near me who builds ali bodied specials. I have only just met him but he has been at it for years...and years. He writes the 7 owners club magazine and was "a bit chuffed" when i handed over a box of "special" valves and stem seals that i pulled out of the Ballamys garage.
I took a few photos of his son's cars but i will get permission before i post any of the cars.
Pigtin..your car is an inspiration. I have always had an eye for 60's 70's and 80's cars but seeing yours with the trailer..i might be looking for a new project.

pigtin, meant to ask, I don't suppose you have a spare radiator do you? mine leaked like a sieve when I ran the old girl up last year!!

I need to investigate the gearbox sometime too, as it refused to select any gear although I can't remember the exact symptoms but it didn't feel like a stuck clutch or similar

Cannot help with rad, mine had a leak when I first ran the car in 1986, I put in some 'Bars Leaks', and again about five years ago-seems to have worked. But your leak may be worse than mine was.
My friend picked up a good, cheap radiator at the ATDC summer camping get-together a few years ago and I can recommend the ATDC stores for all old austin spares.
As for the gearbox, check to see if it's a simple problem firstly, if not, I may be able to help but I have found Austin 10 gearboxes to be almost indestructible.
