Well a friend copied some VHS tapes to DVD for me. But then another problem cropped up!
I tried to copy the DVD contents to my PC so that I could edit out the rubbish.
Nothing doing! By any twist I could think of Bob.
I have a Dual core processor and plenty of ROM. Anyone any ideas?

Hi Jim,
I think Windows Movie Maker is part of the standard windows package although you may need to select it from the optional bits. Failing that you can download it for free:
http://download.cnet.com/Windows-Movie-Maker-Windows-XP/3000-13631_4-10165075.html
Having got that you can capture your video from your disc and edit out the bits you don't want, then save it as a .wmv file.
You can then easily upload the edited version to YouTube.

Thanks Peter, but I have tried that unsuccessfully (this time). I have used it before with success. There is a compilation of aeroplanes flying at Old Warden in one of the aeroplane threads on here. Done with Windows Movie Maker.
I have tried other movie making programs too. And none will import anything from this DVD even though I can watch it direct from the DVD drive on my PC. Nor can I find any way of downloading images from the DVD into a file on my PC.I did wonder whether it might be a file type problem and played about unsuccessfuly with a file converter. The "properties" of the DVD give indication of the file type.
Thanks for the reply anyway. _________________ Quote from my late Dad:- You only need a woman and a car and you have all the problems you

Hi Jim,
Sorry, I thought Movie Maker might have been able to capture from a DVD.
OK here's the next suggestion: I haven't got enough disc space on my little old laptop to fully try this but it worked when I tried a short sequence.
Download http://www.flash-video-mx.com/video4web-converter/
It's a free video converter and you can select the output format. I selected .wmv
I opened a DVD in my laptop that I had recorded on my video/DVD recorder and the files are divided up into VOB 1, 2, etc. I'm not sure how you get Moyea to capture them all but I was certainly able to capture part of one of them.

Thanks Peter. I'll try that when I have little more time.
I have just come in from the rather chilly garage getting my Speed Twin ready for Spain. I do hope this temperature does not follow me to Spain.
I have to go out shortly and I am in less than pristine condition!
Thanks again, Jim. _________________ Quote from my late Dad:- You only need a woman and a car and you have all the problems you

Went for filming for the Railwayman but the schedule was changed because of the bad weather and they used another car
On the brighter side "Hunted" premieres on BBC1 on Thursday 4th October at 9pm and is on for 8 weeks. Looking forward to seeing the estate on the telly. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Wasnt really up to much but the way the storyline is going I think there will be more flashbacks. Imagine somebody getting murdered in your motor. Its quite a hard story to follow.Wouldnt like to mess with Melissa George.....well I might. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |
