|

I want to add a brass drain plug to my Allday's radiator and the easiest way is to simply braze one on.
I think it is yet another useful skill to have but although I understand the basics is there a decent guide out there? _________________ Richard |

I've answered my own question and found a great supplier
www.cupalloys.co.uk
10 minutes on the phone and I'd had the whole process explained and the right stuff ordered. _________________ Richard |

Tell us more, I am running out of brazing materials. What did you buy? and what is it for. I need to repair a brass winscreen soon.
It is a good site but I could not make up my mind what to buy.

Don't know much about Alldays (or onions), but I would imagine that the radiator is held together by solder.
If so, be very careful, because solder melts at a much lower temperature than brass spelter. The radiator needs to be filled with sufficient water to cover all soldered joints before you try. Obviously inverted to insert a drain plug.

A very good point, sir!
I'm going to put the drain in the middle of the lower water pipe rather than in the radiator itself.
I bought 455 silver solder rods and EF flux. _________________ Richard |
