May I have some advice please?
A 1988 Jaguar XJ40 2.9 (XJ6 1986-1994) with a 5 speed manual gearbox is being broken for parts close to where I live. The car is mechanically sound but with body rust.
I have been offered the Getrag 5 speed gearbox from it together with the crossmember, prop shaft etc and I have the notion of fitting it in my 1964 Jaguar Mark 2 3.4. A local metal fabricator told me that he would be able to make an adaptor plate for the bellhousing.
What I would like to know is this : the Getrag gearbox has no manual speedo drive, the XJ40 uses a transducer from the rear axle but does anybody know if it is possible to fit a manual speedo drive on to this gearbox and know how to go about it, please.
Any information will be gratefully received..
