Hi Bazz,

If you are copying the addresses from Photobucket then use the bottom one. It includes the [img] necessary for displaying in your posting.

Nice, is that a NZ-built pickup body?

Hi Rick, not sure whether this truck was NZ built or not, I have owned it for 24 years and have had it garaged in NZ for 22years. I am now importing it into Aussie, as that is where I am living. Can't wait to get it here, so I can start restoring it.

I'm almost certain the rear body is locally-built in NZ, it isn't a style ever fitted to trucks in the UK, but I've seen it on NZ E83Ws before now. Hopefully "rustyreks" will chime in sometime, as he's in NZ and could well have an E83W like this too.

Hi

I have a E83W like yours but the UK version, it is on 16" wheels and it is 1956 too.

Good to see yours!

Cheers

E83W pickups, in the UK at least, all came with 16" rims - with a wider section than those 16s fitted to some saloons.

Vans were on 18"s, some estates also came on 17"s.

The only 15" rims I've known to be fitted to sidevalve Fords were those made by Ballamy and usually fitted to 1172 specials, they look very different to normal Ford wheels. Maybe 15" Ford pattern rims were fitted to export trucks? I've not heard of it but it's a possibility.

Some Holden and VW 15" wheels had a stud pattern very similar to Fords of the era (my Bedford ute has 15s on it but it should have 17s), so there's a chance that these rims could find their way onto a Ford, but they too would look quite different to a stock Ford wheel.

They were only ever on cables, never hydraulics.

Bazz57, after all these years, you have finally woke up to the fact that the best place to live is Aus. ! They did say at one time, that at the present rate of departure from NZ , that there would be nobody left after x numbers of years ! They did ask the last person to leave to switch off the lights ! Is that you ?

Keep it as it was, do not change the brakes. Are you going to make a hot rod from it ? You will get more money for it,if it is kept as it was. Just my view.
