Hi all,
I'm a complete newb to forums and fixing cars so please bare with me.

I have a mark1 facelift Ford Capri 1600 GT XLR which has only ever been owned by our family from new in 1973. Over the last few years i've managed to keep the car going, which is good for me , and after speaking with a few clued up friends and my dad for funding I've decided to try and do a bit of work to it to get her looking the part again!

In all honesty, the car is in fairly good condition as it is, it just looks dirty. So the plan is to take the engine out replace all old and worn parts and spray the engine well the same colour as the car and obviously give the engine a good clean.

There is no way iw ould be able to do all this on my own, so i've managed to enlist the help of a good friend of mine, Tim, to help me take the engine out and get her cleaned up and new parts order.

I've uploaded the insurance photos of the car so you can get an idea of what condition it was in before we started this little project. Each week i'll try and upload a few more pictures of our progress and keep everyone up to date.

Like i say, i am a complete Newb so any advice or help would be greatly appreciated and of course anyone that knows of any parts for sale etc anywhere, i would be greateful if you could point me in the right direction.

Welcome to the forum - looks to be in good all round order to start with.

Digital cameras are a rebuilder's best friend (that and a constantly full cup of tea), photograph everything and anything before removal and maybe note down the order in which you remove things, it'll all help when it comes time to putting things back
