Nice range of classics and, separately, a nice selection of VSCC cars at Nantwich Show yesterday. The show ground itself was a bit muddy in some of the walkways due to rain overnight, but by the time I got there it was dry and stayed that way. |

Anyone else at Tatton Park this weekend? I've just washed the car though it might have been better to just leave it outside. Next weekend I'm at Oulton Park for the Gold Cup meeting, and then the Sunday after at Cholmondeley Castle. |

We had a decent turnout at Tatton, both on the DSG / Viva Owners club stand that I was on, and on the SCCCC stand which happened to be next door. Saturday was, shall we say, a bit wet, and caused all sorts of trouble with the roads between stands getting churned up, to the extent that much of the layout was abandoned on Sunday with display cars being assembled wherever they could. Stayed dry on Sunday, though, which helped to dry out the field and it wasn't bad by the time we left.

We managed to assemble our cars on the stand on Sunday, despite some, shall we say, inept marshalling.

I think it's so long since they had serious rain trouble at Tatton that they perhaps didn't have a great plan for how to deal with it, which is quite a good thing in a way. Some of our club cars were sent off to anywhere in the field, but we were able to gather them once all the cars were in the showground. |

Not an incredible day weather-wise at Cholmondeley Castle today. Decent turnout considering the forecast, but quite a few of the trade stands hadn't bothered. |

It was mentioned in the CS newsletter that it was over-subscribed but exhibitors could pay on the gate and go in the "overflow" area, though as it was I imagine they'd have been in the main field as there were a lot of spaces. |

Yes, I saw that, might go depending on the weather. No dogs, no general public, no picnics. |

No problem, mmm, not sure about that ... so just sitting around for a few hours? or is the Abbey open for a nosey around I wonder?

Blurb from CA FB page...
---
Set in the historic walled gardens of Combermere Abbey, Sarah Callander Beckett, High Sheriff of Cheshire invites owners of vintage and classic cars to an exclusive event. Being the great granddaughter of Sir Kenneth Crossley, founder of Crossley Engineering (including the Crossley Motor Car), Sarah has a keen interest in the beauty of classic vehicles with a classic Crossley car kept on the Estate on the Cheshire/Shropshire border.
Tickets are priced at £10 per car with refreshments available, to be paid in cash on the day, and all proceeds will go to the High Sheriff’s nominated charities.
Please note: general public, dogs and picnics are not allowed. _________________ Rick - Admin

There was talk about the walled gardens being recently restored, though I can't remember where I've seen that. Isn't it a private residence like Cholmondeley Castle, so perhaps no access to the house itself? I don't know - they do have various events on so perhaps some is open, some is not. |

Yes it's private, and only open for the occasional stroll through the bluebells or wedding fair usually. So as you say, probably no access to the building itself. The funding for restoration of one wing was kickstarted a few years ago by a slightly contentious (successful) planning application to drop a load of new houses into nearby Aston village, whether that's been completed yet I don't know.
