Just a thought, but how are the HT cables secured into the distributor ?

I don't recall any split washers on Dodge systems I have stripped. That said, I'd expect better contact than that.

Of course if she started and ran she was 'good enough', but it's not ideal, for sure.

The system is Autolite. They're just push-in connections on the dizzy cap.

I fitted NOS Autolite dizzy cap and rotor arm today. Inspecting the former close-up, I can see a crack running top to bottom on one side - so I guess that wouldn't have helped it running.
