News back from the machine shop is that the head was quite noticeably warped, so hopefully I'll get it back in the near future and put the thing back together (again)!!

Retrieved the cylinder head yesterday, and fitted it back on (with yet another new gasket) this afternoon. Gingerly re-torqued everything with the new torque wrench (annoyingly calibrated in NMs rather than lb ft, grr, so has to be converted into real money). Managed to catch my finger in the fan with the engine running - doh - fortunately it just gave a finger nail a bit of a pounding, no harm done!

Took it for a test run and seems ok, so thats one more job off the list!

Hi

Glad it is running sweet again!

I bet your finger stung a little, I have just got my thumb caught up in a grinder, but thankfully I had greasy fingers so it didn't burn me, just cleaned the dirt off!

Cheers

Put the little van in the garage on Tuesday and re-fitted the front end panels. The previous owner removed them when he had bits and pieces restored on it, but didn't get around to putting them back on. This is the first time I've seen it in one piece, quite growing on me now Very Happy

The front is as sound as the rest of it by the looks!

Aye its a pretty sound old girl, spent its early life on the Isle of Wight hence the low mileage of just over 39k from new!
