Hi everybody, can anyone give a bit of advice starting an old Ford Prefect after 18 years in dry dock.

See if it is seized first, by turning it gently with the starting handle.
Assuming that it isn't, then I'd consider a quick oil change, (cheap supermarket 20/50 will do) take out the plugs to kill compression and spin it on the starter until you get some oil pressure.
Then clean the plugs and put them back in, get a jamjar with some fresh petrol, and a hole in the lid, shove a length of fuel pipe into it and then plug the other end into the petrol pump. Check the points, then give it a whirl.
If it won't go, then chack first for a spark and then see if your carb is all gunged up. A good clean out can work miracles.
