Well, joined the forum this week and thought I would say hello. I am the owner of FO - a 1956 A30 that has found a warm dry home in my garage for the last year. FO had been parked outside since 1986 gradually becoming more and more green. Sam, the previous owner, put FO up for sale looking for someone to bring him back on the road.
Well, progress is slow, but there is a plan to get to the international rally in Winchester in may.
Hopefully a drive across the New Forest and through Romsey won't stress the 803cc too much.
FO has 41000 on the clock and 2 previous owners and lived in Surrey, then Swindon and now Hampshire. Had a gold seal engine at some point in the past.
I'll post some pictures later

Good question Dave, I think there will always be something to do, but for now it's repair the nearside floor both front and rear, drivers floor and inner wing. Helps that I now have a son working in fabrication who is promising to put in some time and welding, cutting and bending skills.
Boot and rear of the car are surprisingly good given that it really sat outside for 25 years.
Engine isn't running but is complete and may well turn in anger within the month as a confidence boost. Wiring is now all working. Brakes are converting to Midget disks as there weren't any! All parts ready to go on.
Plan is to get the welding complete by end of Feb, and then it's bolting everything else back in. |

Welcome Splott,
Will you be taking the A30 to Winchester in green you will certainly get some interest from us all if you do. I presume your a club member, if you are PM me on the A30/A35 Forum, or on here, with your membership number and I can give you access to the members area on there.
Good luck with the plan to get her to Winchester, Paul _________________ Paul

Hi Paul, FO had a wash so it'll be closer to black than green. ...though nothing more than a wash and polish at the most. Good comment as I did consider keeping it looking that way.
I joined the owners club in December thanks. |

Small update. Engine now running after 20+ years being idle. Fresh oil, clean fuel, new plugs and sorted the points did the trick. Idles great.

Welding....unfortunately waiting my turn for a space in the workshop. Not really enough space in my garage. I did get him up on a ramp to have a proper look underneath - sills are a bigger disaster than I first thought, front valence is questionable and the floor is as stated previously. I will post some pictures once we get started. Not so sure Winchester is on now, other than by trailer. Having collected up the parts in various tins, I do have complete original brakes so the discs might save for later. |
