Isn't it - how right you are Rick. Pre war Rileys have suffered much conversion to racing b-st-rds lately particularly sur le continent but not unknown!! in VSCC circles here.
A friend has a 1930 9 mk4 Tourer with a slipping clutch which when the weather is warmer I shall be dealing with.

It's amazing how good a car can look when it's actually really rusty. That looks a very worthwhile job though.

You may disagree with the pratice of turning saloons into specials but the sad fact is that some Riley saloons are less desirable than others and are uneconomic to restore. Fortunately there are some among us who will restore a saloon irrespective of its monetary value - we have an excellent example here - but the people who have the necessary skills and motivation to do that are few and far between. It's partly Riley's fault for producing so many similar but different models.

You're right though, slicing up perfectly good saloons is rife on the continent and has been for decades.

If the row of lightening holes in the chassis were there from new, it is understandable how the chassis rusted so badly at the bottom. I would be tempted to Dinitrol the inside and tape over the holes to stop mud and water getting back in.

Nice work so far, and I am glad you are persevering with the original body.

Regards Kels.

It is good to see another Riley being rescued instead of molested. Keep up the good work, and I hope we see further updates.
