Talking to a chap over a business matter yesterday morning he told me work had been slow for a few months and he needed to raise some cash.

Sitting in his warehouse he told me over the phone was a Ford Anglia 1968, the bodywork was absolutely original with no corrosion at all.

Having seen Anglias in various states of quality over the years I have come to the conclusion you either find a minter in a garage from a deceased estate or at the other end of the spectrum a bondo dog.

Not intending to buy such a vehicle I asked him as many questions as I could over the phone,no photo`s could be sent as he was not into tech equipment.

I made a silly offer to him and low and behold he accepted.
Just as luck has it a transport chap i know was heading 200 miles across country today in a similar direction and said he could collect it for me this afternoon on his way back.

I took the vendors word that the car was worth buying and sent the cash up in an envelope.

The car turned up tonight at 8.00pm,once in the garage in the bright light I was over the moon with the purchase it was better than I imagined.

You have to take risks in life once in a while and jump in very quickly before people change their minds.

Worst case senario is you move the car on for what you paid for i if you do not like it,if the price was right in the first place.

I have brought blind a few times or from photo`s and always come up trumps..you have a sixth sense when talking to people about their cars sometimes and you know it is going to be a good one.

I know it breaks all the rules ...has anyone else done the same.?

Photo`s to be posted tomorrow.

I don't think I've ever bought a car completely unseen, but I've had a few based on photos only (like most ebay buys I suppose, and they've not disappointed so far). Look forward to seeing the photos Smile

Spot on, trust instinct. Bought 2 Ebay cars unseen. Drove one home over 350 miles then used for several years with no major problems. The other is subject of current restoration and better than described.

Well done Gresham Flyer. Sounds like a good buy. 1968 was the last of the 105E.

Here she is after an initial powerwash. One of the most original and solid cars I have seen for a long time.

Everyone knows how these cars would rot away and be scrapped or were patch welded and filled with Bondo.!!!!

I can see no corosion at all apart from the bottom of the nearside lower wing which needs a repair underneath.

She is taxed and Mot`d for 12 months.
Engine 997cc sounds very good.

She has covered a geniune 68,000 miles in her lifetime.

I am lead to beleive that a former owner passed away and the car sat in a garage unused.
The young son of a local haulage contractor nr Hartlepool purchased the car.

As a young lad he did not want to drive around in an original ford Anglia so painted over the lovely green paintwork with white paint.
Then blacked out all the chromework.

There does not look like any filler is on the car, everthing fits as it left the factory apart from being critical the bottom of the passenger door needs a bit of tweaking.

I intend to return her to the original colour of light green, either clean up the chromework or replace as required.

Find and fit a new drivers seat.
Refit the chrome strips.

If anyone has any parts for a Ford Anglia 105E please let me know,I will obviously purchase them from you.

Tel 07811255242.

I would like to bring this car back to its original condition.

Lovely car. Photos almost give off that damp vinyl smell that cars of that era have.

I have removed the original rubber mats and powerwashed them.

I spent Sunday powerwashing the complete underside of the car, engine bay etc .

I then cleaned out the interior.

Apart from a replacement drivers seat the interior is totally original.

Looks like a good basis for a rebuild - return to original colour?
